But let’s be honest — when you first arrive, it’s probably not going to be Friday morning.

You’ve just checked in, you’re tired from traveling, and you want to do a quick essentials shop — water, snacks, soft drinks, and maybe a chilled bottle of wine to enjoy on the terrace.

So for your first grocery run, here’s where to go. These supermarkets are close, convenient, and easy to get to — whether you’re staying at the Beach Getaway Apartment or the Old Town Apartment.

Oh — and one more thing before we dive in…

Each of our apartments includes a “grandma trolley”

Yes, those cute rolling grocery carts everyone uses here. They may look a bit funny at first, but everyone uses them, and they’re by far the easiest way to transport groceries without carrying heavy bags. You’ll be thankful you used it!

If You’re Staying at the Oliva Beach Getaway Apartment

✅ Lidl (Best Option for Beach Guests)

Just straight down the street with the palm trees, Lidl has everything: fresh produce, drinks, snacks, meat, and baked goods.

  • Address: Passeig Francisco Brines, 35, 46780 Oliva, Valencia

  • Distance: 5-minute drive / 15-minute walk (not ideal on foot with groceries)

  • Opening Hours:
    Monday–Saturday: 9:00–21:30
    Sunday: Closed

Local tip: While Lidl is technically walkable, we recommend driving — even if you bring the grandma trolley. The walk back with bags and full sun can be tough. A quick drive makes it much easier, especially with chilled items.

If You’re Staying at the Oliva Old Town Apartment

✅ Spar (For Quick Pick-Me-Ups)

A small but convenient supermarket just down the street from the Old Town apartment.

  • Address: Carrer Alejandro Cardona, 24, 46780 Oliva, Valencia

  • Distance: 4-minute walk

  • Opening Hours:
    Monday–Saturday: 9:00–21:00
    Sunday: Closed

Perfect for water, snacks, wine, and essentials when you don’t want to go far.

✅ Mercadona (Best for a Full Grocery Shop)

Located on Carrer Joan Fuster, this is your go-to for a full stock-up.

  • Address: Carrer Joan Fuster, 46780 Oliva

  • Distance: 10–12 minute walk with your grandma trolley

  • Opening Hours:
    Monday–Saturday: 9:00–21:30
    Sunday: Closed

Local tip: Yes, you can drive, but navigating Old Town’s narrow streets and parking can be tricky and slow. In most cases, it’s actually faster and less stressful to walk and roll the trolley back.

Other options

✅ Eurospar (Midway Along the Paseo)

Centrally located on the paseo with a broad selection.

  • Address: Carrer del Pare Antoni Salelles, 11, 46780 Oliva, Valencia

  • Distance from Old Town Apartment: 12-minute walk

  • Distance from Beach Apartment: 7-minute drive

  • Opening Hours:
    Monday–Saturday: 9:00–21:30
    Sunday: Closed

✅ Carrefour in Gandia (Worth the Drive)

Looking for a one-stop mega shop? Carrefour in Gandia is your ultimate destination. Think of it as a grocery store + home goods + electronics + fashion all under one roof. If you're the type who loves a good browse, this place can take up half your day (in the best way).

  • Address: Avinguda de Blasco Ibáñez, 1, 46701 Gandia, Valencia

  • Distance: 15–20 minute drive from either apartment

  • Opening Hours:
    Monday–Saturday: 9:00–22:00
    Sunday: Closed

How to do it right:
Load your grandma trolley into the trunk, drive to Carrefour, shop till you drop, fill the trolley with your groceries, and roll it back into the apartment like a local legend. It's the most convenient way to handle a big shop without the stress.

Final Tips

  • Bring your own bags or use the grandma trolley — plastic bags cost extra

  • Sunday hours are limited or nonexistent, so plan ahead

  • Most stores accept cards, but it’s always good to have a little cash

  • Fresh produce is excellent — go early for the best selection

From small corner shops to massive hypermarkets, Oliva has everything you need — you just need to know where to go. Happy shopping, and enjoy all the deliciousness you discover!
